A cold crisp morning and a journey across the New Forest for today’s wedding.
Kim and Dan were getting married at Exbury Church also known as St Katherines but first we met Kim at her parent’s home where she was getting ready. We arrived to that wonderful smell of bacon sandwiches. Kim’s Mum Liz was making sandwiches, tea and coffee for everyone. We photographed the preparations, accessories and the beautiful wedding dress which Kim had found in Jersey.
Kim looked amazing in her dress, the colour theme was perfect for this time of the year. After a few photos by the Christmas tree we ventured out into the garden for a few more before leaving to meet the guys over at the church.
Kim arrived at the church in a burgundy coloured vintage car that had been arranged for her as a surprise by her Mum and Dad, even the car fitted in well with the colour scheme.
Kim was escorted by her Dad down the aisle to meet Dan who was waiting nervously for the ceremony to begin. With the legalities complete it was time to sign the register and for the last hymn. Kim and Dan stood alone for this in a spot near the altar and just at this point a shaft of light come down and shone on them as though it was a seal of approval and it provided us with a fantastic shot of the newly married couple.
Kim and Dan processed up the aisle to the church door for the traditional kiss before a chimney sweep jumped out from the side giving them another surprise.
Kim and Dan left the church in the vintage car with just enough time for a glass of champagne on the way to Beaulieu village where we stopped for some photos of just the two of them. It was a bit on the chilly side but Kim and Dan were really good and didn’t complain, in fact Kim really enjoyed it and Dan was a good sport too.
The Bride and Groom were soon greeted by their guests who were enjoying a drinks reception at the Beaulieu Hotel before the meal which was delicious and most welcome.
Another surprise was a telephone call from Dan and Kim’s brother-in-law who couldn’t be with them to celebrate their special day as he is away serving in Afghanistan, an emotional moment for family and friends. The speeches bought a lighter note and some laughter with Dan (a Chelsea supporter) wearing a Southampton shirt after some encouragement and only for a few seconds.
After the wedding breakfast speeches Father Christmas visited with presents for the children (their little faces were a picture!) and the adults were entertained by a caricature artist!
We wish Kim and Dan all the very best for their future together and we would like to thank everyone for their hospitality and making us feel very welcome.
