A wedding at Haselbury Mill nr Crewkerne for Josie and Steve.
An autumnal and medieval themed wedding for Josie and Steve at the amazing Tithe Barn at Haselbury Mill.
We arrived to find the barn being decorated for the ceremony with Candles, wicker hearts and the most amazing autumnal coloured flowers. Steve arrived with his Best Man and Ushers and after a few arrival shots we headed over to the house to meet Josie with her bridesmaids who had cracked open a bottle of champagne. With a few final finishes touches they were ready for a few photos before leaving for the short walk across to the barn.
Josie has a very bubbly personality and wanted to do some of the traditional things with a twist. Her walk up the aisle was to a Morecombe and Wise song (I think that it was to Bring Me Sunshine). We photographed the ceremony in the usual reportage way and didn’t even pose the signing of the register, as the couple really didn’t want that, much to the surprise of the registrars! Josie is also a wedding photographer and knew what she wanted, we’re sure that she will have found it strange being at the other end of the camera! We enjoy photographing the day as it unfolds and enjoy capturing those natural photos.
After the ceremony Josie and Steve were joined by their guests outside in the late afternoon sunshine for drinks and a few family photos before we disappeared off with them for a few Bride and Groom portraits around the lovely grounds of Haselbury Mill.
Josie and Steve then returned to the barn to greet their guests in for the wedding breakfast with the tables laid out in banqueting style. The wine was poured and as the starter was served the hog that had been roasting was now being carved. With the cake cut and the meal complete it was time for the speeches and a few funny stories! Josie and Steve disappeared immediately after the speeches but only for a short time returning wearing black wigs and moustaches. We were then told to undo the envelopes left by our place settings which contained a moustache and soon everyone was wearing a moustache (not necessarily in the right place!), this caused great laughter and depicts that ‘slightly eccentric sense of humour’ that Josie and Steve have. We went from laughing at this to laughing at the ‘space-hopper jousting’ that followed outside in the dark, even funnier when the contestants have had a drink or two, still they didn’t have far to fall!
Well of course the first dance had to have a twist! It started as a slow romantic dance and then turned in to something quite different, we should have known! It certainly got the evening off to a good start and the band Soulside had everyone on the dance floor.
This was a wedding full of laughter and fun, just what Josie and Steve wanted. It reflected their personalities so well and we know that they will still be laughing and smiling about it.
We wish Josie and Steve all the very best for their future together and would like to thank them for the hospitality and for choosing us to be their photographers. We enjoyed being part of their day.
We are busy preparing their images from the day so while we are doing this we hope you enjoy these few images. All of the photos from the day will be available to view online as soon as we have finished editing and Josie and Steve have had first look. The following link will take you directly to their online gallery within our client area. You will need the password provided in order to access the gallery.
